Triad Heart Walk returns to Triad Park next Saturday
Walkers from across the Triad will lace up at Triad Park on Saturday, Oct. 3, for the Triad Heart Walk, a fundraiser that supports CPR training and heart research. The event opens at 9:30 a.m. at 9652 W. Market St., and the walk begins at 10:45 a.m.
Organizers point to a sobering number to explain why the event matters: 9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside a hospital don't survive, most often because no one nearby performed CPR. "Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in CPR, more research, and more lifesaving moments for everyone," the event listing says.
Anyone can sign up as a walker, form a team or donate at triadheartwalk.org. Triad Park sits right on the Kernersville line, so it's a short drive for most readers, and it pairs well with a busy Saturday downtown that includes the Artisan Craft Market and Oktoberfest at Körner's Folly.

Local makers will set up shop downtown on Saturday, Oct. 3, for a one-day Artisan Craft Market at Harmon Park and the Kernersville Museum, 127 W. Mountain St. The market runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free to attend.
Hosted by Favored Conferences & Events in partnership with the Kernersville Museum, the market spotlights artisans from across the Triad and beyond, and organizers donate a significant portion of vendor fees to local nonprofits.
New Airbnb grants aim to help farms add overnight stays
Airbnb and the nonprofit American Farmland Trust have launched a "Farm to Stay" grant program to help farmers and ranchers start or expand overnight stays and other agritourism experiences, such as farm-to-table dinners and workshops. The program will award roughly 25 to 30 grants of $5,000 to $10,000 each nationwide. Airbnb says searches for "farm stay" have nearly quadrupled over the last decade.
Not every Triad farmer is sold. Steven and April Robertson of Robertson Family Farms told ABC45 the money could help farms that already have lodging, but likely won't go far for those building from scratch. "As much as things cost now, you know, for an existing Airbnb you're not going to really get much out of having $10,000," Steven Robertson said.
High Point's "World's Largest Chest of Drawers" sells for $195,000
One of the Triad's most photographed landmarks has a new owner. The "World's Largest Chest of Drawers" at 508 N. Hamilton St. in High Point was bought Wednesday by Autovest II LLC of Bloomington, Indiana, for $195,000, according to the recorded deed. The sale also included two vacant parcels behind the building.
The 38-foot-tall building was built in 1926 and remodeled in 1996, and once housed the High Point Chamber of Commerce. The Nido & Mariana Qubein Children's Museum bought it in 2018 to preserve it. The new owner's plans are not yet known, and no development plans have been filed with the city.
