Downtown's Creative Workshop Now a Hub for Freelancers and Entrepreneurs

A downtown studio is opening its doors to remote workers and freelancers once a week. The new coworking hours start this Thursday.
The Creative Workshop, located on Main Street, will host coworking sessions every Thursday from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m.
The space offers free Wi-Fi, coffee, and access to a communal work area. Organizers hope to create a hub for people who want a change from home offices or coffee shops.
No registration is required. People can just show up with their laptops and work in the studio's open floor plan.
The first session is free, and future visits will cost $10 per day. The studio also plans to add occasional networking events.
The initiative grew out of feedback from local artists and entrepreneurs who said they needed affordable workspace downtown. The studio's owner says the goal is to build a creative community while sharing the space that would otherwise sit empty on weekdays.
The coworking hours are expected to run through the summer. If attendance is strong, the studio might expand to two days a week in the fall.

From blindness to the track: Bowman Gray rookie credits faith for sight recovery

A driver at Bowman Gray Stadium is back behind the wheel after a medical turnaround that he credits to his faith. Jaxson Casper (from Kernersville), a rookie in the track's Modified Division, regained his eyesight after a period of blindness.
He now races the No. 47 car with the support of his family and crew.
His father, Jay Casper, once competed at the same stadium. Jay said his son followed doctors' instructions but chose not to take prescribed medication.
The family believes their faith played a key role in Jaxson's recovery. Jay expressed gratitude for the progress Jaxson has made and continues to make.
Casper's crew chief, Reggie Newman, has been working with him in the pits. During a qualifying session on May 2, 2026, Casper ran with a pack of veteran drivers in a 100-lap race.
He was spun out in turn four near the end of the race and did not finish. Despite that setback, his return to the track marks a significant personal victory.
Jaxson Casper's story has resonated with fans at Bowman Gray Stadium, where his father's racing history adds a layer of legacy. The family remains focused on the future, thankful for each race.
