Election Day is Tuesday. Here's what Kernersville voters need to know

Early voting is over, and the rest of the 2026 general election comes down to one day. Polls across Forsyth County open at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, and close at 7:30 p.m. If you are in line by 7:30, you will still get to vote.

Plenty of neighbors have already cast their ballots. Early voting turnout in Forsyth County climbed past 104,000 ballots, the Winston-Salem Journal reports.

Go to your own precinct. During early voting you could use any site in the county, but on Election Day you have to vote at your assigned polling place. If you have moved recently or aren't sure where yours is, look it up before you head out using the voter search on the Forsyth County Board of Elections website.

Bring a photo ID. North Carolina asks every in-person voter to show an acceptable photo ID, such as a driver's license. If you don't have one, you can still vote. You'll cast a provisional ballot and fill out an ID exception form explaining why.

Know what's on your ballot. This is a big ballot. Depending on where you live, it includes races for U.S. Senate and Congress, state courts, the General Assembly, the district attorney, county government and the Forsyth County Board of Education. Your ballot only shows the contests for the districts where you live, so the county's sample ballot is a good way to see the races ahead of time. The Journal has also put together a candidate guide for Forsyth County races.

Results will start coming in Tuesday night, but they stay unofficial until the county canvass on Friday, Nov. 13. However you vote, thank you for taking part.

More than 1,100 walk at Triad Park to fight Type 1 diabetes

Triad Park was a sea of costumes and blue shirts Saturday morning as more than 1,100 people turned out for the Breakthrough T1D Piedmont Triad Walk, FOX8 reports. The walk raises money for research toward treating, preventing and curing Type 1 diabetes.

Chapter leader Eleanor Schaffner-Mosh told FOX8 that people with Type 1 can feel like the only one at school or work, and that coming together for a day "gives you hope, gives you courage." Along with the walk itself, families enjoyed face and pumpkin painting, cornhole and a Halloween costume parade. FOX8 meteorologist Neill McNeill, who retires in December after 45 years in the news business, was also surprised with a gift from the organizers.

The Piedmont Challenger League celebrates another season at Kernersville Wesleyan

The Piedmont Challenger League closed out its softball season in style Thursday night with its annual banquet at Kernersville Wesleyan Church, the Kernersville News reports. League president Mark Ciofani said about 105 players, family members and volunteers were fed, and the season itself was a good one: no rainouts, and everyone improved as the weeks went on.

Ciofani said the players' favorite part is simply seeing each other, and the banquet gives them a chance to get "dressed up all nice." Jack Stewart, 95, who founded the league 37 years ago with the late Kernersville Mayor Roger Swisher, was there to celebrate, too.
