Glass Skin Goals? Meet Your Morning Upgrade

Glass skin is the fall beauty goal: a complexion that looks smooth, plump and luminous. Pique’s Carrara Marine Collagen makes supporting that glow a delicious part of your morning routine.

After 90 days on Carrara, 83% reported smoother skin, 80% reported plumper skin and 86% reported greater skin satisfaction.

Each serving combines Type I marine collagen to support skin radiance with rare Type II collagen, sourced from wild Hokkaido salmon, to support elasticity. Together, they bring skin support into a daily ritual that feels like a treat.

Two scoops blend into morning matcha for a creamy latte, making consistency easy as fall schedules fill up. A warm cup, a quiet moment and nourishment from within become part of the same routine.

For anyone pursuing that luminous glass-skin look through sweater season, Carrara adds a beauty upgrade to a habit they already love.

Did the elections go the way you wanted?

All the votes are counted, at least unofficially. Here's where the races on Kernersville ballots stood as of about 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, based on unofficial results from the N.C. State Board of Elections. At that point 2,626 of 2,626 precincts statewide and 108 of 108 in Forsyth County had reported. Nothing is official until the counties finish their canvass later this month.

The national picture. Democrats are projected to control both chambers of Congress next year. NBC News, CBS News, CNN and ABC News projected Tuesday night that Democrats will win the U.S. House, and CBS News, CNN, ABC News and CNBC projected overnight that they will also win the U.S. Senate. North Carolina was one of the Senate seats Democrats flipped from Republicans.

U.S. Senate. Democrat Roy Cooper won North Carolina's open U.S. Senate seat, according to a race call from The Associated Press, and Republican Michael Whatley conceded Tuesday night, WUNC reports. Unofficial returns had Cooper with 58.7% statewide to Whatley's 39.1%, with Libertarian Shannon W. Bray and Green Party candidate Michael Dublin splitting the rest. In Forsyth County, Cooper had 66.6%.

U.S. House, District 6 (which includes Kernersville). Democrat Cyril Jefferson, the mayor of High Point, defeated Republican Rep. Addison McDowell, FOX8 and WUNC report. With all 195 precincts in, Jefferson had 51.1% to McDowell's 48.9%, a margin of about 6,264 votes.

N.C. Senate, District 31. Republican Dana Caudill Jones led Democrat Andy Bowline 53.7% to 46.3% districtwide, with 62 of 62 precincts reporting.

N.C. House, District 75. Democrat Jen Wiles led Republican Donny C. Lambeth 54.0% to 46.0%, with 21 of 21 precincts reporting.

Forsyth County commissioners. In the at-large race, Democrat Dan Besse had 65.2% to Republican Terri Mrazek's 34.8%. In District B, which covers Kernersville, Democrat Marsie West led Republican Chris Parker 57.4% to 42.6%.

Sheriff. Democrat Bobby F. Kimbrough had 77.9% of the vote to Republican Ernie Leyba's 22.1%.

School board. For the three at-large seats on the WS/FCS Board of Education, Democrats Valerie Brockenbrough, Elisabeth Motsinger and Ronda Mays held the top three spots, ahead of Republicans Michael Quinones and Jason Lucero. In District 2, which covers Kernersville and has four seats, Democrats Lee Childress, Susan Conway, Curtis Fentress and Marie Jackson held the top four spots, followed by Republicans Robert (Bob) Weiss, Allen Daniel, Robert Barr and Jill Nelson Berlin. The gap between fourth and fifth place was about 11,893 votes with 71 of 71 precincts reporting.

N.C. Supreme Court. Democrat Anita Earls led Republican Sarah Stevens 58.9% to 41.1% statewide.

Constitutional amendments. All three amendments were passing statewide in unofficial returns: requiring photo ID to vote (59.6% for), capping the state income tax rate at 3.5% (61.9% for) and limiting property tax levies (60.4% for). Forsyth County voters were more divided, with each amendment drawing between 51.8% and 54.2% support.

Whether your candidates came out on top or not, thank you for voting, Kernersville. Want to see how your own precinct voted? The full results are on the State Board of Elections website.

A manufacturer wants Forsyth incentives for a $65 million, 60-job expansion, with a hearing Nov. 12

An unnamed manufacturer is asking Forsyth County for help with a $65 million expansion that would add 60 jobs, the Winston-Salem Journal reports. The county Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the request at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, during its regular meeting at the Forsyth County Government Center, 201 N. Chestnut St. in Winston-Salem.

Commissioners are weighing up to $1.1 million in performance-based incentives over five years, or a second option that would rebate half of the property taxes paid on the new investment. The money would go toward building costs and machinery, and the company says the new jobs would pay an average of $73,730 a year plus benefits. The legal notice didn't name the company or even give a project code name, and given the size of the project, a state incentive package is likely too.

The last time commissioners approved incentives was in September 2025, for ReAgent Chemical Services, a U.K. chemical maker that pledged 30 jobs and $5.63 million in investment.

Local Troll Sally Turns 1. Are you going to come and celebrate?

Little Sally, the 18-foot wooden troll tucked into the woods of southwest High Point, turns 1 on Saturday, Nov. 7, and Visit High Point is throwing her a monthlong party, the Kernersville News reports. Built by Danish artist Thomas Dambo from reclaimed wood (her hair is made of old table and chair legs), she has drawn about 89,200 visitors in her first year.

The celebration kicks off during Social Saturday on Nov. 7, when Little Sally is a featured stop on the downtown trolley route from 3 to 5 p.m. Riders can hop off to take photos and sign her birthday card. Through November, participating restaurants will serve Little Sally-inspired food and drink specials, local businesses will hand out free birthday stickers, and Little Sally T-shirts are on sale at The Art Gallery at Congdon Yards, Cohab Space and the High Point Museum.

She is one of seven Dambo trolls in North Carolina, joining five in Raleigh and one in Charlotte, which makes her the closest one to Kernersville.
