Someone just spent $236,000,000 on a painting. Here’s why it matters for your wallet.
Late last year, a Klimt sold for the highest price ever paid for modern art at auction.
An outlier sure, but it wasn't a fluke. U.S. auction sales grew 23.1% in 2025. The $1-5mm segment even grew 40.8% YoY.
Meanwhile, Apollo’s chief economist Torsten Slok said to expect ‘zero in return in the S&P 500 over the coming decade.’
Each environment is unique, but after dot-com, post war and contemporary art grew about 24% annually for a decade. After 2008, about 11% for 12 years.
It’s also had near-zero correlation with the S&P 500 since ‘95.*
Now, Masterworks lets you invest in shares of artworks featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso.
$1.3 billion invested across over 500 artworks.
28 sales to date.
Net annualized returns on sold works held 12 months+ like 14.6%, 17.6%, and 17.8%.

Kernersville’s storied American Legion baseball program is making a comeback
A piece of Kernersville’s sports history is being dusted off. American Legion Post 36 junior-team manager Chad Delp and three coaches are working to bring the program back to prominence, forming a Post 36 junior team this summer.
Post 36 baseball was once a Kernersville institution. The senior team was a perennial contender at the local and state level, won state titles in 1988, 1992 and 2010, claimed multiple Area III titles, and even went all the way to the American Legion World Series in 2010.
The new junior team is the first step toward rebuilding that tradition and giving local players a place to compete close to home this summer.

Free summer concerts return: Music at Twilight comes to Ciener Botanical Garden on June 25
Mark the calendar for a relaxed summer evening out. The Music at Twilight concert series, sponsored by Welden Village, comes to the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden on Wednesday, June 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The free outdoor series pairs live music with one of Kernersville’s prettiest settings, the downtown botanical garden on Main Street. Bring a chair or a blanket, settle in among the gardens, and enjoy the evening. It’s one of several Music at Twilight dates the garden hosts through the warm-weather season.

Local makers fill the garden: Summer in the Gardens Craft Fair is Saturday, June 13
Shoppers can browse handmade goods surrounded by greenery this weekend. The Summer in the Gardens Craft Fair takes over the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it’s free to attend.
Vendors set up both indoors and outside, with handmade items, specialty makers and artisans, plus food and drinks available on site. It’s an easy, family-friendly way to support local crafters and spend a morning in the garden.

An after-hours evening at Körner’s Folly: “Night at the Museum” is June 13
One of Kernersville’s most famous landmarks opens its doors after dark this weekend. Körner’s Folly hosts “Night at the Museum” on Saturday, June 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. It’s an all-ages evening of discovery inside the historic 1880 Victorian home.
The Folly, often called “the strangest house in America,” is full of quirky rooms and hidden details that are even more fun to explore by evening light. Details and tickets are available through the event page.
